About the Project
Manulife wanted to redesign their InsureRight insurance website.  There was a lot of good information on it, but because the site’s structure and flow wasn't great, users were dropping off before reaching the information.  They wanted to re-design the website simply, with a focus on education -  teaching the consumer about different types of insurance.  They also wanted to introduce a simple “quick quote” calculator that would give the user a quick estimate of their life insurance needs.
My Role
ART DIRECTION / DESIGN / UX
I worked as the design lead on this project.  I designed the look and feel of the redesign, and directed our junior designers on how to implement that style across the rest of the website.  I also worked with our technical team to work on how the “quick quote” calculator could be designed so it was easy to digest, but could still give the consumer useful insurance information.

starting with a website

Manulife wanted to re-invent the InsureRight brand in a way that would differentiate it from the parent brand. (as much as they could).  The Manulife parent brand used a lot of realistic lifestyle photography, so we took this a step further and introduced realistic silhouettes. We also brought in textures and gradients to the backgrounds to give the pages more dimension.

ending with an app!

Manulife had such good traction on the re-designed InsureRight website, they wanted to take that experience and create an ipad app.  The app would be for consumers, but would be especially useful for Manulife Insurance advisors meeting with their clients.  It became a tool for them to use to visually show their clients their insurance needs.

We populated the app with “easter egg” illustrations that reacted if the user tapped on them.

The app was also sensitive to time of day and would switch to a night time scene after 5pm

In this section, the user would drag an drop different assets & life elements onto the field, and the app would calculate their insurance needs.
