Everyone’s financial journey is unique. Standard Life wanted to create a financial education centre that showed just that. The site was to provide consumers with a suggested path to navigate their financial future, with content curated specifically to their life stage and investment knowledge. We were asked to create mix of videos, tools, text, and calculators that can be found throughout the site.
DESIGN / UX
I worked as the design lead on this project. I designed the website pages while adhering to Standard Life’s strict brand guidelines. I also designed the look and functionality of the 14 financial calculators that populate the site.
Rather than navigating through pages of financial content with no direction, we came up with an idea to “path” the user and guide them to digest the content in a structured way based on their age and investment experience.
The user could follow the interactive timeline at the top of the page by clicking on the thumbnails to access content chosen for them. The timeline also kept track of the content pages they had already visited by highlighting them in blue. The orange marker denotes the retirement age of the user.
A financial education centre wouldn’t be complete without some great interactive calculators to help explain various financial concepts. We created 14 calculators in total with topics ranging from Budgeting and Saving, to Longevity, Compound Interest, and the Impact of Inflation. (I actually learned a lot about finance by designing them)
